Naomi is my padawan

This post is mostly for me so that I can remember to write it down in her journal.

When Naomi sees a dog she goes "woof."

When Naomi falls or drops something on the floor she says "oh oh"

If I want her to give me something that she shouldn't play with she says (in a really cute tone) "Nah-uh" and will shake her head.

When she sees a ball she goes "ba!"

As she says goodbye she says "buh" and waves.

She says "lete" for milk.

"Gua" for agua.

A few days ago she pointed at the moon and I taught her Luna and she repeated it very clearly. She hasn't said again though.

She has a quite the mixture of both Spanish and English words. I hope she's not getting confused. Either way, I will continue to keep speaking to her in Spanish and David in English.

Naomi is learning so much it really surprises me to witness how much babies learn in such a short time. I hope to continue to be a good teacher to her. I feel like my responsibility as a mother grows as she grows. Before I used to be her source of food and comfort now I'm teaching her about everything. I hope that overall I can help her develop a high self-esteem. I think that by continuing to provide for all the things she needs physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally I will achieve that goal. David and I are in for it because Naomi is just so interesting in exploring and figuring out everything. I hope I'm smart enough to be her mother. At least for the first few years of her life she'll think I'm the smartest woman alive. *Smile*

FWIW, I don't think you have to worry about confusing Naomi with English / Spanish. My understanding is that kids sort languages out pretty well. And the benefits of being bilingual should far outweigh any initial confusion!

What a sweet post. And don't worry, I thought my mom knew everything until I was probably 18, haha. I agree with Robin- from what I've heard they don't get confused, it's super good for them to learn 2 languages and this time in their lives is the best time, those smart brains! I just saw pics of you and Naomi (still love that name!) on fb and I couldn't believe how big she got while I wasn't looking!
