Hasta La Vista Facebook

I have recently deleted my facebook account. Why? Because I feel like it has lost touch. I'm a facebook veteran and I've seen the many phases of facebook and I didn't mind them. Its not the same anymore. I dislike it because of the way its designed. The design is set so that your 'friends' can view your minifeed (minifeed is something that tells the whole world whose wall, pictures, profiles, etc. you've commented on or have viewed) and I just find that annoying. I want to see the things people have done in the REAL WORLD not the facebook world. I know some people who don't mind this new style, ask us people who hate it, why its so hard to adjust. I just think its becoming a myspace and I'm escaping it all before it happens. Blah!
Another reason why I hate is because of how people add friends on facebook. Its like a contest to see who has the most friends. The idea that because you have so many friends it means you are popular or something. I deleted my account with over 400 friends, who I don't ever message or network with. It makes no sense why I have so many friends who I've only met once or have never even spoken to. Sure, you meet someone and you want to add them as your friend because that's the cool thing to do. What? No, its absurd. I want facebook to be a way to connect with friends you haven't seen in ages, friends across the nation, or the gang you hang out with on the weekends. Like I said I had 400 friends and I only looked at 90 different profiles . Trust me nobody ever looks at their 500 friends they have listed either. Its hard to explain but I hope this has somewhat made sense to you. Its a friend stalker, i.e. Cassie has just written on Jimmy Doe's wall. How do you know Jimmy Doe? Yeah, you don't. So why would anybody care. Yes, sure I can edit my OWN account but I don't care whose wall you've written on either. In short, I feel blogging might be my thing now. I just need to know how to make this private. If anybody knows how to do it please inform me ASAP. I've learned a bit on how to change things around but I haven't quite mastered it yet. Well any who I just thought I should announcet hat I no longer do the facebook thing.

I think this cartoon is pretty funny and it sums up my feelings too.

Cassie -- go to your dashboard, and then select settings, and you can then click on the Permissions tab, and decide who you want to view it, by selecting one of the options -- you can then permit certain people the right to read your blog, by entering their email address.... once you go through the basic steps here, it should become pretty clear how to set it up the way you want.

Hope that helps.

Cassie, if you want to make your blog private, just go into the edit section and select the "settings" tab. Then select "permissions". Under "Blog Readers" pick "Only people I choose". That will allow you to invite the people you want to read your blog. Only invited readers can get on, and if people want to read it who know you, they can email you and ask for an invite. Happy blogging!
