So we're going to try to get back into the whole blogging thing. I always mean to blog, isn't that good enough? So here's a taste of what we've been doing lately:
Three weeks ago we went to my cousin Chris's wedding. It was a lot of fun. They had the wedding at a statue garden. It was a very beautiful place - they had something like 100 statues there - all outdoors. The area is very beautiful; it has carefully maintained landscaping and Michigan's natural beauty to go along with the statues. Here's a picture of one amazing horse - this is actually made out of iron, even though if you look closely you'll see the grains on the 'wood.' The sculptor made this sculpture first from driftwood, and then had cast iron molds of the wood made to become this statue.
It was a good weekend. I also purchased some new dress shoes (I had been using my old ones for over 6 years) and some new soccer cleats. I'm hoping to use these cleats for something like 6 years as well. Isn't it funny that I bought shoes and Cassie didn't? We fight stereotypes!
This week we went to the Taste of Chicago. Can you believe that Cassie and I are both from Chicago and this is the first time that either of us went? It was. We had some delicious food - a bbq turkey leg, some pirogis, some breadsticks with mozzarella cheese baked into them, and some apple pie. It was a good dinner.
This weekend was good because we had the extra day off on Friday for the 4th. It would've been a great weekend, but Cassie's work has a little mixup. That is to say that somebody changed Cassie's hours even though she told them not to. So, she went into work on the 4th and the 5th, but on the 4th, she left almost immediately because the person had switched her hours. She made it back to the picnic I was at, but she missed the soccer game. We then went to a party that night. All in all its been a good weekend so far, but the greatness was cut short by people that are somewhat selfish and willing to inconvenience others so that they can relax. Fortunately, that person is going to be leaving the store soon, so it isn't a big worry.
