David, Jared, and I organized a volleyball intramural team where we did really well. We signed up for the lowest division because we were all playing TOGETHER for the first time. Our team consisted of close friends that turned out to play the game very well. Of course we were all a bit rusty. Through out this season I felt like a bad friend because of how competitive I'd get. I just don't like to laugh nor smile when I play any of my favorite sports (that’s if it’s competitive). I feel that if I laugh I am joking around and sports aren't a joke to me. When I play, I stay focused, sure if we are winning than I celebrate a bit but you won't see me cracking jokes. This is why I believe I might’ve given the wrong message to our friends. I just don't like laughing after mistakes are done. I know some people tend to respond with laughter after a mistake and its stuff like that that upsets me. Well it turned out I wasn't the most competitive person on the team because there was a particular somebody (who will remain anonymous) that really ticked me off. Like I mentioned earlier we were a new team getting together for the first time ever and we didn't do so hot on our first few games. He would just get angry at every mistake, than he'd start acting like a huge jerk to our teammates. Just because I don't laugh during games it doesn't mean I'm rude to my teammates. Well he really upset me that I completely ignored that person and stopped setting the ball to him/her. We were getting killed (side note: this team that killed us was also above the standard for a low division team i.e. they were running nice plays, lets say high division stuff, not to mention the huge girls they had.) and I just hoped this person would just leave. Well he/her quit half way through the game which is something really tacky to do. Yeah, I really learned I wasn't craziest. It’s all water under the bridge but I would like to acknowledge that I really dislike bad team players. There like my biggest pet peeve when it comes to sports. I hate brawls and any thing that disrupts the game. I don't joke around when I play sports but I also don't lose my class either. I believe in sportsmanship which is what some people lack. Gosh, how come we can't play and get along at the same time as being competitive. We CAN be competitive and still be nice.
Soccer season is up next and yes this person is going to be in our team. This person better not get out of hand.
P.S. We made it to the second playoff game which is pretty cool. We did so hot that we thought we were going to win but we lost thanks to dumb BYU intramural rules.
